O THOU, the contrite sinner's Friend,

He ever liveth to make intercession-HEB. vii. 25. 1.

4. P

When Satan, by my sins made bold, Who, loving, lovest to the end,

Strives from Thy cross to loose my hold, On this alone my hopes depend,

Then with Thy pitying arms enfold, That Thou wilt plead for me.

And plead, O plead for me. 2.

5. When, weary in the Christian race, dim And when my dying hours draw near, Far off appears my resting-place,

Darkened with anguish, guilt and fear, And, fainting, I mistrust Thy grace,

Then to my fainting sight appear,
Then, Saviour, plead for me.

Pleading in heaven for me.

6. When I have erred and gone astray, cr Whep the full light of heavenly day Afar from Thine and wisdom's way,

Revealş my sins in dread array, And see no glimmering, guiding ray,

Say, Thou hast washed them all away; Still, Saviour, plead for me.

Dear Saviour, plead for me.

Jesus the King.

148 King of kings, and Lord of words.--(See also Section VIII. (5), The Kingdom of

Christ on Earth.') 147 If we suffer, we shall also reign with 10 , ,

Thou Conqueror renowned,
Him.-2 TIM. ii. 12.

Thou sweetness most ineffable, ni The heard that once was crowned with

In whom all joys are found i
Is crowned with glory now:

2 When once Thou visitest the heart, A royal diadem adorns

Then truth begins to shine;
The mighty Victor's brow.

Then earthly vanities depart, 2 The highest place that heaven affords

Then kindles love divine.
Is His by sovereign right:
The King of kings, and Lord of lords, 3 0 Jesus, Light of all below,
He reigns in perfect light.

Thou Fount of life and fire, mf 3 The joy of all who dwell above,

Surpassing all the joys we know,
The joy of all below

All that we can desire :
To whom He manifests His love,
And grants His name to know.

4 May every heart confess Thy name,

And ever Thee adore ; 4 To them the cross, with all its shame,

And, seeking Thee, itself inflame
With all its grace, is given :

To seek Thee more and more.
Their name an everlasting name,
Their joy the joy of beaven.

5 Thee may our tongues for ever bless; p 5 They suffer with their Lord below;

Thee may we love alone ;
They reign with Him above;

And ever in our lives express
Their profit and their joy, to know

The image of Thine own.
The mystery of His love.
6 The cross He bore is life and health,

6 Stay with us, Lord, and with Thy light Though shame and death to Him;

Illume the soul's abyss ;
His people's hope, His people's wealth,

Scatter the darkness of our night,

And fill the world with bliss.

He is Lord of lords, and King of kings.-REV. xvii. 14. f 1

LL hail the power of Jesus' name ! 4 Ye Gentile sinners, ne'er forget
Let angels prostrate fall ;

The wormwood and the gall;
Bring forth the royal diadem,

Go, spread your trophies at His feet,
And crowu Him Lord of all.

And crown Him Lord of all.

2 Crown Him, ye martyrs of our God,

Who from His altar call;
Extol the stem of Jesse's rod,

Aud crown Him Lord of all.

* 5 Let every kindred, every tribe,

On this terrestrial ball,
To Him all majesty ascribe,

And crown Him Lord of all.

3 Ye seed of Israel's chosen race,

60 that with yonder sacred throng
A remnant weak and small,

We at His feet may fall,
Hail Him who saves you by His grace, Join in the everlasting song,
Aud crown Him Lord of all,

And crown Him Lord of all !

150 Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.-Ps. cxlix, 2.

3 ri

His kingdom cannot fail :
Your Lord and King adore ;

He rules o'er earth and heaven;
Mortals, give thanks and sing,

The keys of death and hell
And triunph evermore :

Are to our Jesus given :
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice : Lift up your heart, lift up your voice :
Rejoice ; again I say, rejoice.

Rejoice; again I say, rejoice. 2 Jesus the Saviour reigns,

4 He all His foes shall quell,
The God of truth and love ;

Shall all our sins destroy ;
When He had purged our staius,

And every bosom swell
He took His seat above :

With pure seraphic joy:
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice : Lift up your heart, lift up your voice :
Rejoice; again I say, rejoice.

Rejoice ; again I say, rejoice.
5 Rejoice iu glorious hope :

Jesus, the Judge, shall come,
And take His servants up

To their eternal home :
We soon shall hear the archangel's voice;
The trump of God shall sound, Rejoice!

C. Wesley.
